Saddened to have learned that Shri Kuldip Nayar, one of the pillars of Indian journalism since independence is no more among us. I vividly remember visiting him at his place back in September 2014. The humble and curious soul he was.
A former Indian High commissioner to the UK, to ever quested journalist to a former member of parliament. To this date, he used to write articles across the major dailies. Extremely versatile and an advocate of the open press in India, Mr Nayar has had the experience of working with Pandit Nehru till Vajpayeeji.
His eyes sparkled brightly at the age of 91 when I mentioned him being the first person to have revealed Pakistan has the “Bomb” during His famous interview with AQ Khan. He mentions it in his autobiographical note: Beyond the lines. If interested in witnessing the Partition, formation, and progression of the South Asian nations: India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, you must read this book.
He talked a lot. Asked how my study is going. Blessed me to excel in life. A little ride with him and a walk down the park was nothing less than a soothing melody. I wish I could relive those moments.
Such a tall person with extreme humility.
The man departs but the legacy remains.

Om Shanti.
